Why Can’t People Just Get Along? A Thought I’ve Had Since Childhood

As a little girl in grade school, one of my earliest ponderings was why can’t people just get along?

I was the brunt of the School Bus Bully, the Class Bully, and the Wanna-Be Bullies. This impacted my life but it wasn’t what made me sad to the core. What made me cry was other kids being bullied.

Maybe this is why I gravitated towards the Underdogs… and got bullied because of it.

In today’s world where adult bullies run rampant and division, destruction, and despair are prevalent… I see hope. I believe this hope has been marinating behind the scenes. Now, it either comes out of the closet or it dies in the shadows.

Looking past the divide, beyond the destruction, and above the despair… a new breed of champions has formed. They’ve always been there, just not as visible. These champions are stepping up, standing out, and helping without adding conditions to it.

Maybe it’s the neighbor who helps without being asked; or the person standing up for a stranger online; or that one person in a group who speaks up for someone while everyone else stays silent or looks away.

Big, small, or in-between… these actions all count!

This new breed of champions understands, as a society, it’s our differences that make us stronger, not our similarities.

Just something to think about,
Connie 🌼
