My Van is in the Shop - My Calendar is Clear - And I'm a Little Antsy
My van has been smoking lately - not cigarettes but from under the hood. It only happened sporadically, lasting a few seconds, and stopping before I could pop the hood to see what was going on.
There was no rhyme or reason to the white smoke randomly spewing from under the hood. The shop Guy said if they can't recreate it, it would be difficult to diagnose.
Last Thursday as I pulled into the driveway at my daughter Nikki's house, the van started smoking a lot!
Nikki was letting her dog out to go potty so I hopped out of the van and got a video of where the smoke was coming from.
We had plans but Nikki looked at me and said "Do you want me to follow you to the shop?". I swear we can read each other's minds.
The shops schedule was about a day and a half out but I left the van in their care so they could figure out the problem when the schedule allowed. I wasn't comfortable driving it anyway.
As of their closing time yesterday, they diagnosed the cause as the vacuum brake booster pump - whatever that is. They will get back to me on Monday about a timeframe and whatnot.
I've been at the mercy of my own thoughts since Thursday afternoon!
On Nikki's days off, we usually go out and do something fun but she's not off work until Wednesday.
Yesterday, I ordered pizza delivered to my room - even though I have plenty of food in my hotel room kitchen.
This morning, I read the blogs I follow, perused some new blogs, watched YouTube channels I like to keep up with, wandered downstairs to pay another 2 weeks on my room (I can pay 1 or more weeks at a time), got some fresh air, mopped my floor (I kinda knocked my coffee off the counter), took a shower, and now I don't know what to do with myself.
As a recovering perfectionist who thinks she has to do it all and overbooks her calendar but now has nothing to fill her time with... I'm a little antsy.
So, here I sit. The floor is clean, my calendar is filled with blank space, and my time is all my own.
It seems doing nothing is the hardest job I've had in years.
