A View of My Morning from Solitary Confinement

Just sitting here in my air conditioned hotel room, looking at the off-white walls lined with pictures of Florida beaches, Flamingos, Pelicans, and nautical themed designs.

To my left, sits my empty coffee mug with a few remnants of deliciousness still visible in the bottom of the mug. I normally do one (oversized) cup of coffee a day - but I'm thinking today might be a special two-mug day!

I’m 62-years young and I've been grounded - on house arrest! (figuratively). My van is in the shop, my daughter (who lives nearby) is off at work, I've never done Uber or Lyft and I don't want to start. My radius is these four walls and as far as my bum-knee can walk (some days it's further than others).

Occasionally, I hear jets, helicopters, and other types of air planes overhead. I've learned not to panic when I hear this and simply assume it's the nearby Air Force base(s) practicing their drills.

Earlier this morning, in the stillness of it all, I let my mind wander into the past. I was getting flustered, upset, and my gut was twisting - a good sign that I need to stop whatever I'm doing!

As I sit here writing about the present moment, I'm noticeably chillin' out. The twisting of the gut has subsided, my mind is clear, and I've decide to make that second mug of coffee!

Enjoying the present moment, one solitary sip at a time ☕️
