I Pay Someone to Beat Me Up and It's Worth Every Penny
There’s resistance when I twist my body.
My right leg barely lifts off the floor when I put my pants on.
I’ve been waking up with a stiff neck, tight shoulders, and a familiar tension across my lower back into my right hip.
As I scoot my booty out of bed, the usual grunting-n-groaning is amplified.
It's time to pay the chiropractor to rough me up and put my bones back in their proper place so life can go on.
I resorted to seeing a chiropractor back in 2013 after another late night Emergency Room visit due to excruciating pain and barely being able to move - all because I twisted wrong, sneezed, or some silly little thing that shouldn’t cause an issue but did.
All the crazy childhood stunts I pulled (especially those my Mom and Dad never knew about), a car accident in my late teens, and the normal and not-so-normal wear and tear as life goes on have all contributed to my current state of being.
When I look back at my life and the shenanigans I’ve pulled, I think of the Hunter S Thompson quote:
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a ride!'
I’m aware there’s controversy surrounding chiropractic care. I’m also aware that controversy lurks in any topic you dare to search.
I’ve done my own research, learned some lessons the hard way, and know what types of treatment my body does and doesn’t respond to.
What I’m currently doing works for me and, for that, I’m thankful!
