Did the Cat Distribution System Just Pick Me?!
Iāve noticed a gray calico cat roaming around my campsite for a while now. But when I go outside, she skedaddles.
I assume she found her way here from a local farm.
Yesterday morningā¦
I headed out for a Walmart pickup, coffee, and a little quiet time on Flagstaff Hill at Krape Park.
Just my kind of morning š
When I got back to my campsiteā¦
The gray calico kitty was sitting near my campsiteās electric pedestal.
As I approached the pedestal to plug in, she looked as though she was going to run. I gently told her āNo worries, youāre fineā and she sat back down.
My campsite has a cabin in back of me and a cabin on my passenger side. The backdoor cabin neighbors were outside and we chatted for quite a while.
When I headed back inside, Miss Calico walked in front of me as if leading the way.
For a split-second, I wondered if the cat distribution system had me on its radar.
In the late afternoonā¦
I look outside and there she is, sleeping on the built-in bench on my deck.

Sheās sleeping about 5 feet from my van.
She looks so peaceful, snoozing away.
I wonder what sheās dreaming about.

Every time I look out, sheās in a different position.
I kinda want to give her a blanket to lay on but I donāt have a spare.

The sun will be going down soon.
I wonder if sheās ever going to wake up!

She looks so cozy all curled up sleeping.
I just wanna go out there and boop the floof⦠but I resist the urge!
My early evening routine doesnāt faze herā¦
As evening approaches, I close my windows and get ready for nightfall.
I thought for sure the sound of closing my windows would make her run. But she just lifted her head a bit, gave me a wink with her sleepy eyes, and laid her head back down to slumber.
As the sun begins to setā¦
I look outside just as she moseys off the bench, saunters across the deck, and disappears under the van.
I donāt see her again until morning.
Parting thoughtsā¦
Iām actually allergic to cats 𫤠Iām usually fine being around them - as long as I donāt touch them (but itās so hard to not pet a cat!!!).
I suppose the cat distribution system knew I couldnāt have an inside kitty so it loaned me a campground edition instead.

The big question is, how will Miss Calico and Miss Chippy (the chipmunk who lives under my deck) get along?

Life Right Now
Iām in my Illinois hometown area. Itās campground life for the summer season (most likely into autumn).
When my body says ānoā (making me allergic to cats), I just look for the loophole. An outside campground kitty works for me!
