Wrestling with Van Life Laundry
My laundry is piling up.
I keep it in a bag under my bed but the bag is so full it’s hard to pull it out so I can stuff more dirty laundry inside.
It’s such a pain in the booty to do laundry in the van… but my supply of clean clothes is running dangerously low.
So, what’s a laundry-hating gal to do?!?
If it were as simple as going to a laundromat… my laundry would already be done.
But Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS) prevents me from going to a laundromat. Heck, I can’t even drive past one without risking a reaction.
I’d much rather do laundry by hand when I’m at a hotel than in the van. I share some van life vs hotel laundry tidbits in my post, Hand-Washing My Clothes - One Part of Nomad Life I’ll Never Love.
The way I see it…
I could go to a hotel for a few days and do my laundry. It’s much easier than fiddling with it in the van. But I also want to save my summer hotel budget in case of super-duper hot and humid days (the van has no AC).
Maybe I could buy more clothes. But my rule is, everything I bring into the van needs to be worthy of the space it takes up. I’d just end up stuffing more dirty clothes into the bag under my bed.
The most down-to-earth option is to just quit complaining, get off my duff, and start doing the darn laundry.
But I don’t wanna!!!

Life Right Now
I’m in my Illinois hometown area. It’s campground life for the summer season (most likely into autumn).
Working on talking myself into doing some laundry today - even if I have to grump my way thru it 😖
