Defeating the Procrastination Monster - Turns Out I Just Needed to Start
Yesterday’s post was about my proficient procrastination skills… because I’ve been putting off making plans to head north for summer.
I’ll be leaving the extended stay hotel soon and moving everything back into the van to make the journey. But I need some sort of plan.
In my early van life days…
I just hit the road with no plan and landed where I landed for the night… usually a Walmart, Cracker Barrel, or a hidden nook that I learned about thru the Nomad Grapevine.
Depending on where I was in the country (USA), it could take me a couple tries to find a place to sleep for the night.
Those days were fun… for the first few years… but that way of living is exhausting and not sustainable.
Nowadays, I prefer campgrounds…
I can definitely add hotels to my preference as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed staying at the extended stay hotel this winter. I’m glad I decided to give it a whirl!
Whether campground or hotel, I’ve learned it’s best to make reservations or I risk not having a place to call home.
Yesterday afternoon…
I decided to take a small bite out of the task and get one or two reservations made… enough to get me out of Florida and into Georgia.
My mind got so focused on the task that I made reservations for the entire trip. My plans are always flexible, though, because unexpected things can crop up.
This year I’m making the trip in 19 days. Usually, I take more time but this just feels right. Life changes, ya know!
This morning…
I went to the front desk of the hotel to tell them my actual check-out date.
I was on such a roll that I also made hotel reservations for next winter!
Turns out I just needed to start…
Once I began making a plan, the process basically finished itself… without stress.
It feels good to check it off my list ✅
