Autumn at Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park

I don’t know how yesterday was mid-April and today it’s mid-late October.

This season, taking care of my aunt (who has dementia) has taken a lot of my time… and that’s with the help of outside Caregivers. My time here has flown by.

The campground closes next Sunday…

Before I pack up and head out for winter, I have several things of my own to wrap up.

I let my own needs slide this year. Ok, ok… I said this year. Truth is, it’s a pattern I’m trying to dismantle.

I’m reaching my limit and need to unwind…

A little soothing nature should do the trick.

I head to one of my favorite spots at Lake LeAquaNa State Park in Lena, Illinois. This morning it's nice and quiet.

It looks like fall finally arrived!

The road winds around the lake with several places to park and enjoy nature.

I stop in the lower area to sit, listen, and not think about anything other than whatever is happening in the current moment.

The fall colors are peeking through. I notice the lake is pretty low... probably because we’ve not had much rain.

The water is covered in green algae stuff. I don’t recall ever seeing it so scummy-like.

Scum or no scum, it’s still peaceful and my mission to unwind moves forward.

On my way out of the park...

I drive slow with windows open, enjoying the colorful scenery, smelling the autumn air.

As I round the bend just over a hill, a man is dancing and singing on the side of the road. I think he’s wearing ear buds and probably listening to music. Well, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

In my rearview mirror, the man stops dancing and walks on his merry way. He was just being himself.

Maybe there’s something magical about doing a little jig and singing a little song on the side of the road in the middle of nature.

Until the next little moment,
Connie 🍂
