Visiting Paradise Cove in Winslow Illinois
I needed to break up whatās quickly become a monotonous routine. Yes, even someone who lives on wheels can find themselves in the midst of monotony.
Last Eveningā¦
I put a Walmart curbside pickup order in for Monroe WI rather than my usual place in Freeport IL.
This morningā¦
I made the 40 minute drive to Monroe thru the backroads. It was a nice change of pace with fresh scenery for a stale mind.
After picking up my order, I went to McDonalds for a cup of coffee and headed to Honey Creek Park in Monroe.
I didnāt stay more than a few seconds because the nearby ethanol plant was spewing stuff into the air. The wind was blowing it in my direction so, rather than sit there gasping for air, I left.
Itās just one of those things I have to maneuver thru when living with MCS.
On my way back to the campgroundā¦
I took a different route and ended up at Paradise Cove in Winslow IL. Iāve been here before, just not yet this season.

Paradise Cove is a little cove that you get to thru an alleyway next to a church.
Youād think it leads to the church parking lot but it takes you to a secret mystical cove. Ok, itās not really a secret but itās fun to pretend!

You can also park in the lot next door and walk the covered bridge to the cove. The bridge crosses over the creek below.

A sign greets you just before entering the cove.

The photo above was taken last May 2025. I didnāt get a new photo this time around but I wanted to share what the cove looks like as you enter. All other photos were taken today.
When I got to Paradise Coveā¦
There was a truck filling up jugs of spring water. Once the truck left, I had the place to myself.

The cove is a popular place where people come to get fresh spring water from the infamous spigot.

I donāt know why the water wheel isnāt running today. Maybe itās too early in the season !?

If I had to pick a favorite part of the cove, itās the waterfall. I could sit here for hours š
There are benches to sit at near the waterfall. The sound of the water pulsing into the pond below is very soothing.
Time easily slips away at the cove. But the time had come to get on with my day and check a couple items off my To Do List.
Parting thoughtsā¦
Somehow, Iād forgotten all about this little treasure in Winslow Illinois. I graduated from Lena-Winslow High School for Peteās sake! Itās not like I donāt know the area.
If I hadnāt decided to break up the monotony⦠and take a different route⦠who knows if or when I would have remembered.
My little detour to disrupt the monotony was just what I needed. My To Do List tasks for the day were completed lickety-split!
