The Trouble with Hurrying
Sometimes deciding to do things differently turns into a lesson you wish you never had to learn.
Someone (not naming names) decided she’d speed things up… and make her south Florida trip over the course of 2 weeks rather than taking a month or more to mosey her way south for the winter.
I once made the trip in 2 days when my Dad was very ill and needed me. But that was 8 years and a younger body ago.
This time around, I stuck to my rule of driving 3ish hours at a time… but only stopping for 1 or 2 nights before moving on.
This was a good plan, in theory…
But I didn’t add a cushion of time to relax or recuperate from something like the MCS reaction I had a couple days ago when I ended up in downtown Nashville.
I don’t know why, but the air and fumes in Nashville affect me more than other areas of the country.
Yesterday afternoon…
I pulled into my campsite in the outskirts of Chattanooga, Tennessee. I was too exhausted to even look at the view.
But this morning brought a fresh perspective.
The view from my campsite
It’s a perfect, cool, autumn day to relax and make myself a good meal.
Today’s rest and a happy tummy is essential because tomorrow is “get my booty thru Atlanta day”.
I take the Atlanta bypass…
But the GPS won’t let me select the bypass and I have to pay attention. Miss the exit to the bypass and I end up in downtown Atlanta… with umpteen lanes, circling roads that make a gal dizzy, and layers of highway stacked sky high.
Driving thru downtown Atlanta brings a whole new level of commitment that I don’t want to be part of.
If you don’t hear from me for a couple weeks… never fear! It means I missed my exit and I’m probably still circling Atlanta.

Life Right Now
Whereabouts: Camping in southern Tennessee.
On The Horizon: Looking forward to the 3 whole days I booked at a Georgia State Park next week. It’ll give me time to get caught up… or maybe just do a lot of snoozing 😴
