Something That Goes Thunk In The Night

I keep hearing little tinkety-thunks on my van roof.

It’s kinda spooky when it happens during the night. My intuition tells me it’s nothing. But my mind tries to blow it out of proportion.

I roll over in bed and pull a teeny corner of the curtain up to peek through the window… fully expecting to see a glowing space alien with big black eyes and a head that’s too big for its toothpick-like body peering back at me.

Thankfully, the only thing looking back at me is darkness.

Today, the thunks started again… and I might have a suspect.

There's a squirrel who's been sitting on my picnic table glaring at me through the window. For some reason, he’s pretty ticked off and blurts out some mad-squirrel chirps.

Maybe he’s climbed into the treetops and is hurling things at the van because I haven't given him any nuts to bury for winter 🐿️

Then again, it’s been pretty windy the past few days.

Those mysterious thunks are probably just tree debris.

Until the next quirky thought,
Connie 🌼
