My Morning Ritual at Edgar Evins State Park

Edgar Evins State Park (in Silver Point, Tennessee) is one of my favorite state parks. I have many favorites but the Tennessee State Parks are on the top of my list.

And this year I get the Senior discount - which makes it even better!

My favorite morning ritual at Edgar Evins SP…

My van-home has a twin bed that stretches from side-to-side across the back.

The first thing I do when I wake up is roll over in bed, open the curtain, and gaze at my beautiful backyard as the sun peeks over the mountain behind me.

The window is tinted but the view is still breathtaking.

I always pick a campsite in the top section of the mountain. I don’t know if it’s a small mountain or just a large hill… but I’m calling it a mountain!

There are size limits to some of the campsites but my van is just shy of 20 feet. She fits pretty much anywhere.

The campsites are wooden platforms…

The upper campsites extend over the side of the mountain.

My first time here (years ago), I was a little creeped out about the wooden platforms - and the pitch black nights because there are no lights at all - but stepping outside of my comfort zone had become my norm and I was up for the adventure.

Over the years, it’s become a peaceful place where I enjoy spending time.

The distance between the platform and the ground varies by campsite. Seeing it from the side, my site doesn’t look too bad. But when in the campsite looking out, it looks and feels like I’m camping in the treetops.

My morning ritual continues outside…

Once I’m out of bed and appropriately dressed, I head outside to soak in the view.

Standing at the back of my campsite looking beyond the trees… pieces of Center Hill Lake peek through.

On the ground far below, a squirrel romps around carrying a nut. It seems he can’t decide where he wants to eat breakfast. He scampers up one tree, pounces over to the next, and scurries back down again… rinsing and repeating until he’s out of view.

In the trees to my left, a Blue Jay chirps. Each time he chirps, he does a cute little jiggity-jump.

I wasn’t expected my own private viewing of a nature based comedy show this morning - but it’s the best entertainment there is!

Parting thoughts…

I’ve never camped in one of the lower campsites. They are popular spots and usually full because they overlook the lake.

That's fine with me, though. I prefer the solitude of camping in the treetops 💕

As for today, I leave Edgar Evins behind as I carry on with my northward trek.
