My Favorite TV Shows and What Draws Me to Them

As I read blogs this morning, I checked out their slash pages. Something that caught my eye on Matt’s blog was a list of favorite TV shows.

Some are familiar, some I enjoy, and some I’ve never heard of.

But it sparked the writing of this post.

I haven’t had a television since January 2014…

Nikki was a teenager and both of us watched Netflix more than the TV. It made sense to quit forking out $130 a month for cable TV - that never got watched - and just go with Netflix for $7. I no longer have Netflix but I’m sure it’s more than $7 nowadays.

Turns out, not having a TV for 12 years (let alone a smart one) makes it difficult to help Auntie M when she forgets how to use her newly bought smart TV. I always have to call her neighbor for help 🙄

Over the years, I watched shows on my phone, laptop, and iPad. But the past few years, I use my iPad most of the time.

My top 4 favorite TV shows are…

Who’s to blame for me watching these shows…

I have to blame someone, right?!

Nikki got me hooked on H2O and HIMYM. One of our many favorite Mom-n-Daughter traditions was watching TV shows and movies together.

My Dad got me hooked on TBBT. I hadn’t seen TBBT until around the 10th season - when I moved in with Dad (so he didn’t have to go to a nursing home). The Big Bang Theory was one of the shows we enjoyed watching together.

Dad passed away 2 years later but the memories live on. Some of those memories come through The Big Bang Theory.

The person who got me hooked on Hart of Dixie was a YouTuber. I don’t remember who it was but she said she binge watched Hart of Dixie. So, I watched the first episode and ended up binge watching it myself.

These shows are different and similar at the same time…

Each show has its own setting, personalities, soap-opera-like chaos, and storylines.

But there’s a common theme that draws me to these shows.

Each show has a diverse group of people who, in today’s world, are unlikely to even consider hanging out with each other.

This diverse group becomes friends (or more than friends) despite their unique, sometimes off-putting, personalities and personal beliefs.

Yet, they love and accept each other … regardless of their differences.

And that’s how the world should be.

Life Right Now

I’m in my Illinois hometown area → It’s campground life for the summer season (most likely into autumn).

I’m looking forward to → A long holiday weekend with campground activities and, hopefully, no tornados, storms, or other stressful issues to deal with for once!

Send me a note! 📝
