My Eyeball Says I Don’t Listen
I seem to be an all-or-nothing kinda gal.
My entire life has been like this. I’m either in a phase where I’m chillin’ or a phase where I’m drillin’. There’s usually no in between.
Lately, I’ve been in Drill Sergeant mode, acting like I need to accomplish all my goals faster than the speed of light.
My body was telling me to slow down.
But did I listen?!?
Heck no.
Several days ago, in the midst of the hustle-n-bustle, I got something in my eye. I don’t know which was worse, the pain or the profuse watering that lasted for hours on end.
I couldn’t see what was in my eye and rinsing didn’t seem to help.
Of course, the invisible boulder in my eye came out just before my appointment with the Eye Guy. But he said to come see him anyway… and, this time, I listened.
Turns out, whatever was in my eye caused a wound on my eyeball. The doctor was probably trying to simplify it by calling it an “open wound”. But I’m smart enough to know it’s called a corneal abrasion 🙄
That itty-bitty incident knocked me for a loop for a couple of days. One day, I even took a 2 hour nap at 3pm!
The moral of the story is, when your body tells you to slow down… just do it.
If you don’t listen, it’ll find a way to make you listen.
