Mistakes Happen - Lessons Get Learned

I'm plopping this here for my own reference and in case anyone noticed I deleted this blog and wonders why it's back.

Here's the story...

December 2024

I took a break from the Wordpress.com blog I've had since 2017. Keeping up with significant changes to the platform (that I didn't understand), dealing with the confusing theme editor, fielding comments, and the whole shebang, had become a chore.

When taking a break in the past, people would message me asking if I was ok and why I wasn't blogging. But this time, no one messaged me.

I took this as an easy escape and a chance to silently move on rather than just taking a break.

September 2025

I started ConnieSue.me on the Bearblog platform. I enjoyed the simplicity - which is what I strive for in anything I do.

Sadly, I have no difficulty complicating the simplest of things - but that's a topic for another time.

Early November 2025

I had a major brain fart and talked myself in to deleting this blog and going back to my Wordpress blog.

In a round-about way, I figured out I had many months left on the Wordpress hosting plan and thought "Why not give it another go?!"

Last Week

The Wordpress blog was consuming me - I found myself spending way too much time tweaking and fixing things, dealing with comments, fiddling with stuff that's not even important, and so on.

I thought turning comments off would help but it set off a chain-reaction that led to a mega-tweak-fest. Something I noticed was...

I was trying to make my Wordpress blog work as simply as my recently deleted blog on Bearblog.

So Here I Am

I'm back on Bearblog with no promises other than to myself to keep it simple!

There's always more to the story but the gist of it is, my Wordpress blog has reached its expiration date. It's time to let it fade off into the sunset.

As for the lesson, it's not uncommon for me to learn things this way. You don't truly know if it's for you until you actually do it - even when you flip-flop.
