Hee-Hawing My Way to a Decision
Today was my original check-out day at the hotel. But I’m not leaving… yet.
I’ve been working on trusting myself more - like a few weeks ago when I was hee-hawing around, trying to decide if I should extend my stay at the hotel or just go back to the campground.
I wasn’t convinced the weather was going to shape up by today and didn’t want to be stuck in an un-air-conditioned van at a campground. Nor did I want to risk the hotel filling up and there’d be no place for me to go.
I kept checking the extended weather forecasts - over and over on multiple apps - as if it were going to miraculously tell me what I wanted to know.
But forecasting the weather that far out is pointless. All I got were the seasonal averages - and I couldn’t trust the averages this year because the weather has been anything but average!
The thing is, early September weather in northern Illinois can be iffy when it comes to heat and humidity.
After a little pep-talk with myself to soothe my overthinking brain… I took a calming breath, trusted what my instincts were already telling me but I hadn’t been listening to, and chose to stay at the hotel.
I’d rather be wrong about the weather at the hotel than wrong about it at the campground.
Needless to say, I booked the hotel until September 11 (only because the hotel is filled to the brim that weekend and my room is gone).
This week looks to be pretty darn warm with some humidity creeping in. But next week looks like it will be cooler.
Bottom line, I’m happy with my choice.
