2 Straight Days of Hanging Out Inside the Van
Can you believe I just spent 2 whole days inside my van? I didn’t even open the door.
Thursday afternoon was the last time I stepped foot outside of my 63ish square foot cozy little home on wheels… until late this morning,
Friday...
I woke up to the rain.
It rained all day, stopping sometime during the night.
With the cool fall temperatures, the rain made it feel even colder.
I had no desire to go outside, get rained on, and come back in the van with wet clothes to hang up.
When it's raining outside, the wet clothes don’t dry and they make everything in the van damp.
Saturday...
The rain stopped but the sun never came out. It was also colder than the day before.
Could I have gone outside? Of course.
Did I want to go outside and freeze? Nope.
My goal was to stay cozy. Period.
Today...
The sun came out. The temperature is the same as yesterday but the sun makes a big difference.
I went outside, dumped my porta-potti and gray water tank, talked to the neighbors, and puttered around my campsite for a bit.
I was hungry…
I didn't feel like cooking so I ordered a pizza.
My usual pizza is extra sauce, no cheese, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. Boy did they slather on the extra sauce... it was yummy!
I'm often questioned about my no cheese, no meat pizza. The answer is… food allergies.
My food allergies and MCS mean I have to stay within some boundaries. But within those boundaries everything is fair game.
Parting thoughts...
Two days is not the longest I've had to hang out in the van. My longest was 4 days and it's always because of the weather.
I don’t consider it being stuck in the van because I’m very at ease with solitude. I’ve learned how to live with and be alone with myself - something many people don’t understand.
Thankfully, I have everything I need within myself and in the van. Anything outside of that is simply an extra cherry on top.
